Learnie Red Rock's Big Birthday Bash
24 May 2016 | By billy1979Learnie Red Rocks mountain bike trails are ten years old this year - and a special family day of free activities is being organised to mark the occasion.
Forest Enterprise Scotland and members of the Black Isle Mountain Bike Club are inviting riders – and non-riders - of all ages and levels of experience to come and check it out.
The celebratory event - Sunday 29 May (11am – 3pm) - will include opportunities to get some skills training and coaching, get practical advice on trailside bike maintenance and watch demonstrations of mtb skills.
Jack Mackay, for the FES team in Inverness, Ross and Skye said;
"Learnie has been a fantastic success and has steadily built its reputation over the last decade as a great place to visit for a full-on day of mountain biking.
"It's been a collaborative effort and the professional input of the local mtb community has been invaluable in making it the success that it is.
"It's only right that we celebrate that success so we're going to have a brilliant day! There will be loads to do, both on a bike and off a bike, so come and join in the fun!"
Other activities planned for the day include a fun treasure trail (with prizes for all who complete it), a ladies only cycle (2.00pm), and anniversary themed craft activities.
Members of the Black Isle Mountain Bike Club will guide family groups of up to 8 people around some of the trails and there will be a competition at the skills area…with prizes for the slowest lap!
Free parking will be available on the day and refreshments will also be available. Anyone planning to bring their own bike must ensure that it is in a suitable condition for the trails – and helmets must be worn.
